Pending Base rate case, docket Case No. 9888 before the Maryland Public Service Commission.
As published by the utility or the commission.
Baltimore Gas and Electric filed a new rate case with the Maryland Public Service Commission on July 6, 2026, seeking 156 million dollars in additional annual electric revenue as its next multi-year rate plan proposal covering 2027 through 2029. BGE says the filing reflects a reduced, bare-bones maintenance investment plan. If approved as filed, the increase would add about 8 dollars a month to a typical residential electric bill; a commission decision is expected around January 2027.
What it means for your bill: BGE has asked to raise electric bills about 8 dollars a month starting in 2027; nothing has been approved yet and the case is still under review.
