Will My Bill Go Up

About

Why this exists

Utility rate cases decide what every household pays for electricity and gas, and they are conducted in a format almost nobody can read: docket numbers, testimony, revenue requirements, tariff sheets. The news covers the ask when it is filed and the decision when it lands, and the year in between, when the comment period is open and the hearing is scheduled, goes by in silence.

Will My Bill Go Up reads the filings and keeps the household version: what was asked, what was approved, what it adds to a typical bill, when the hearing is, and where to send a comment. It is built and maintained by one person with a weekly research routine, and every number links to its source so you can check it.

It is free. It is paid for by ordinary ads and, in states where you can shop your supplier, by a referral fee if you switch through a link here. Nobody who files rate cases has any say in what appears on the site.
