What we keep and why
Effective August 29, 2026.
What we collect
When you look up a ZIP code or a utility, we store the text you typed, the ZIP and state it resolved to, which utility matched, and a one-way hash of your IP address so we can rate-limit abuse and count visitors without keeping the address itself.
When you sign up for an alert, we store the email address, the utility or state it covers, the ZIP you entered if any, the time, and the hashed IP. Confirmation is double opt-in; unconfirmed signups receive one confirmation email and nothing else.
When you use a share button we record the channel and the page, not who you shared with. Standard server logs record requests for a short period.
How we use it
Lookup logs answer your question and, in aggregate, tell us which utilities and states people care about. Alert records exist to send the alert you asked for. We do not sell, rent or trade any of it.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of service providers to run the site: an email delivery provider for alert and confirmation mail, Google Analytics for aggregate traffic statistics, and Google AdSense where ads appear. Ads may use cookies to show interest-based advertising; Google's ad settings let you opt out. Links to supplier comparison services in supplier-choice states may carry a referral code; they receive nothing from us about you beyond the click.
Retention
Lookup logs are kept as long as we operate the site. Alert records are kept until you unsubscribe, after which the address is retained only to honor the unsubscribe.
Your choices
Every alert email has a one-click unsubscribe link. To have your email address or lookup history removed entirely, write to [email protected] from the address in question.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it.
