Avista filed a multi year electric rate plan asking for a 111 million dollar, 13.9 percent revenue increase for January 2027, on top of increases already approved for 2024 and 2025. For a typical residential customer using 925 kWh a month that would add about 17.21 dollars to the monthly bill. Washington's Attorney General's Public Counsel argues Avista could forgo most of the increase, proposing a 7.2 percent profit margin instead of Avista's requested 10.2 percent, which it says would save customers up to 626 million dollars over four years; a hybrid evidentiary hearing was held September 17 and 18, 2026, with post hearing briefs due October 19, 2026 and a decision expected around December 2026.
