Separate from its pending general rate case, Avista asked the UTC to lower Washington natural gas bills through two annual cost pass through adjustments: a purchased gas cost adjustment and a Climate Commitment Act compliance cost update, filed August 31, 2026. Combined, the requests would cut gas revenue by about 34.1 million dollars, 11.5 percent, and lower a typical residential bill using 61 therms a month by about 7.38 dollars, from 96.18 to 88.80 dollars. The UTC is scheduled to consider the requests at an Open Meeting on October 29, 2026.

What it means for your bill: If approved, this would lower your Avista natural gas bill by about 7.38 dollars a month; it is separate from Avista's larger pending rate increase request.
