2028 to 2031 general rate case
Pending Base rate case before the California Public Utilities Commission.
As published by the utility or the commission.
SDG&E filed a new multi year general rate case in June 2026 asking regulators to set rates for 2028 through 2031, with a total revenue request of about 3.8 billion dollars. As initially proposed, a typical residential customer would see a combined 2028 increase of about 14.03 dollars a month for electricity and 8.45 dollars a month for natural gas, an overall 8.6 percent increase. San Diego's city council separately voted to back state bills aimed at reining in utility costs as this case opened.
What it means for your bill: This case will set your SDG&E electric and gas base rates from 2028 through 2031; it is very early in the process and the numbers will change.
