Duke Energy Florida asked regulators for base rate revenue increases of 593 million dollars in 2025, 98 million in 2026, and 129 million in 2027 under a multi-year rate plan. The Florida Public Service Commission voted to approve a reduced settlement on August 21, 2024, cutting the 2025 increase to about 203 million dollars and the 2026 increase to about 59 million dollars, formalized in Order No. PSC-2024-0472-AS-EI. Duke Energy said many residential customers actually saw their total bill go down in January 2025 because a separate storm recovery charge dropped off around the same time the new base rates began.

What it means for your bill: Your Duke Energy Florida base rate went up in January 2025 and again in January 2026, but changes to separate storm and fuel charges around the same time mean your total bill may not have moved by the same amount.
