A typical gas heating customer using 100 therms a month pays about 10.67 dollars more starting in 2026 under the approved plan, far less than Con Edison originally asked for.
Con Edison electric rate case, 2026-2028 plan
Approved Base rate case, docket 25-E-0072 before the New York Public Service Commission.
As published, for a home using 280 kWh a month.
Con Edison originally asked to raise electric delivery revenue by about 1.6 billion dollars, an 18 percent jump in base delivery charges, which would have meant about 26.60 dollars more a month for a typical customer. After a record number of public comments, the company and the Public Service Commission signed a joint proposal in January 2026 that cut this sharply: electric rates rise 3.9 percent in 2026, then 3.2 percent in 2027 and 3.1 percent in 2028.
What it means for your bill: Your electric delivery bill went up about 4 dollars a month in 2026 for a typical apartment using 280 kWh, with smaller increases already locked in for 2027 and 2028.
