Tampa Electric 2025 storm cost recovery surcharge

Tampa Electric asked the Florida Public Service Commission to recover 2024 hurricane storm restoration costs through a new surcharge. Regulators approved the surcharge on February 4, 2025, a residential charge of 0.01995 dollars per kWh that comes to about 20 dollars a month for a typical 1,000 kWh customer. The surcharge runs from March 2025 through August 2026, an 18 month period.
What it means for your bill: A storm recovery surcharge has added about 20 dollars a month to your Tampa Electric bill since March 2025 and is scheduled to end in August 2026.
