Pepco DC standard offer service rate increase
On bills now Supply and capacity price before the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia.
As published, for a home using 614 kWh a month.
Pepco's Standard Offer Service default generation rates in Washington DC increased based on competitive wholesale power auction results, driven by power plant retirements, tightening regional capacity supply, new grid reliability requirements, and rising demand including from data centers. The DC Public Service Commission approved the new rates on May 20, 2026. For an average residential customer using about 614 kWh a month, the increase works out to about 9.56 dollars a month, roughly 7.0 percent, effective July 1, 2026 after a one month implementation delay.
What it means for your bill: If you do not shop for a competitive electricity supplier, the default generation portion of your DC Pepco bill went up about 9.56 dollars a month starting July 2026 because of higher regional power auction prices.
