NV Energy has received about 22,000 MW of data center interest and projects data centers could be nearly two thirds of its sales by 2046. Its 2026 resource plan proposes new gas, solar and storage plus a mandatory large load contract charging data centers their own generation costs, roughly 18 dollars per kW a month plus a long term energy rate, to keep those costs off household bills. The commission is due to rule on the contract framework by September 18, 2026 and the full plan by December 2, 2026; NV Energy is separately suing developer Tract over an attempt to negotiate outside this public process.

What it means for your bill: Nothing here changes a bill today. What matters is whether the large load contract survives intact; if it is weakened, the cost of plants built for data centers starts showing up in the next general rate cases around 2027 and 2028.
