This case decides how Amazon's Indiana data center load is billed and how new power plant costs tied to it are shared, which affects whether any of those costs can be spread to other NIPSCO customers.
NIPSCO base rate increase
Approved Base rate case, docket Cause No. 46120 before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
No residential dollar figure published yet
The filing does not state a typical-bill impact we can verify. We will add one when the commission staff or the consumer advocate publishes it.
NIPSCO filed for about 368.7 million dollars in additional annual revenue in September 2024. The IURC approved a settlement on June 26, 2025 that cut the increase to about 257 million dollars, below NIPSCO's original request and above the 230.4 million dollars recommended by the state consumer counselor. The deal kept the fixed monthly residential customer charge at its existing 14 dollar level rather than raising it further.
