Evergy filed a rate review on February 6, 2026, docket ER-2026-0143, for its Missouri Metro (Kansas City area) customers, seeking about 137.9 million dollars in additional revenue, a 14.9 percent increase (plus 0.3 percent for fuel costs), which the company says works out to about 17.70 dollars more a month for a typical residential customer. Evergy says it already trimmed the request by 25 million dollars based on expected new revenue from data center customers coming online in 2026. The formal evidentiary hearing before the Missouri PSC is running September 28 through October 9, 2026 in Jefferson City; no ruling has been issued yet. If approved, new rates would take effect in January 2027.
What it means for your bill: This is Evergy's opening ask for its Kansas City area customers; the company already cut it once because of new data center revenue, and the case is now in its evidentiary hearing with no decision yet.
