Watch for how the Louisiana Public Service Commission enforces cost sharing if Meta's actual power use ever falls short of what was promised, since that is what determines whether these plants ever show up on a typical household bill.
Entergy Louisiana's second Meta gas plant expansion
Pending Rate matter, natural gas, docket U-37882 before the Louisiana Public Service Commission.
No residential dollar figure published yet
The filing does not state a typical-bill impact we can verify. We will add one when the commission staff or the consumer advocate publishes it.
In an application opened around late March 2026, Entergy Louisiana asked regulators to approve a much larger second phase for Meta's Richland Parish data center: seven additional gas combined cycle power plants totaling more than 5,200 megawatts, plus roughly 240 miles of new transmission lines. Consumer and environmental groups have asked the Louisiana Public Service Commission to investigate the financing structure, saying Meta is withholding information regulators need to judge whether Louisiana households are protected if the data center ends up using less power than projected.
What it means for your bill: This case, still open as of August 2026, will help decide whether seven new gas plants built mainly for one company's data center get repaid entirely by that company or partly by everyday Entergy Louisiana customers. A commission decision was reportedly expected around December 2026, though that timeline was not confirmed by the commission itself.
