This case, still open as of August 2026, will help decide whether seven new gas plants built mainly for one company's data center get repaid entirely by that company or partly by everyday Entergy Louisiana customers. A commission decision was reportedly expected around December 2026, though that timeline was not confirmed by the commission itself.
Entergy Louisiana gas plants for Meta's Richland Parish data center
Approved Rate matter, natural gas, docket U-37425 before the Louisiana Public Service Commission.
No residential dollar figure published yet
The filing does not state a typical-bill impact we can verify. We will add one when the commission staff or the consumer advocate publishes it.
To power Meta's new AI data center campus in Richland Parish, Entergy Louisiana asked the Louisiana Public Service Commission to approve three new gas fired power plants plus supporting transmission. The commission approved a settlement on August 29, 2025. Entergy says Meta's own payments will save other Louisiana customers billions of dollars over 20 years, but consumer and environmental groups warned the deal leaves gaps, since the gas plants have an expected 30 year life and if Meta ever scales back or leaves early, ratepayers could still be on the hook for paying off the plants.
What it means for your bill: Watch for how the Louisiana Public Service Commission enforces cost sharing if Meta's actual power use ever falls short of what was promised, since that is what determines whether these plants ever show up on a typical household bill.
