Delmarva Power asked the Delaware Public Service Commission for a base rate increase, its third base rate request in five years, filed December 9, 2025 and raised from 67.8 million dollars to 75.8 million dollars in an August 31, 2026 update; evidentiary hearings are not expected until April 2027. An interim increase of about 34 million dollars, roughly half of Delmarva's request under a state law that caps interim increases once seven months have passed, has been in effect since July 9, 2026. A second public comment session was held in Dover on September 23, 2026, where more than a dozen residents spoke against the increase; Delmarva's Delaware Superior Court appeal, filed September 4, 2026 over how the interim increase was calculated, remains pending with no ruling yet.
What it means for your bill: Delmarva Power has an interim increase of about 34 million dollars in effect since July 2026 and is appealing how it was calculated in court; a final decision on the full 75.8 million dollar request is not expected until 2027.
