PUCO approved a settlement on January 8, 2026 resolving four proceedings against FirstEnergy's Ohio utilities: the Corporate Separation Rider, Rider DMR, Rider DCR, and a review of political and charitable spending, following the commission's November 19, 2025 orders in those cases. The deal returns 275 million dollars in restitution and refunds, with 250 million dollars going directly to customers plus 5 million dollars in additional residential credits and 20 million dollars for low-income assistance programs.
