Cleveland Electric Illuminating (FirstEnergy) distribution rate case
Approved Base rate case, docket 24-0468-EL-AIR before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.
No residential dollar figure published yet
The filing does not state a typical-bill impact we can verify. We will add one when the commission staff or the consumer advocate publishes it.
FirstEnergy's three Ohio utilities asked PUCO for about 190.3 million dollars in additional annual electric distribution revenue, filed July 31, 2024. For The Illuminating Company (Cleveland area), that would have raised a typical 1,000 kWh residential bill from about 173.61 to 186.63 dollars a month, an increase of 13.02 dollars, if approved as requested. PUCO's November 19, 2025 order granted only about 34 million dollars combined across all three utilities, roughly 18 percent of the request, so the actual approved bill impact for Illuminating Company customers is well below the 13.02 dollar figure the company originally cited. New rates took effect March 1, 2026.
What it means for your bill: FirstEnergy asked for a much bigger increase than PUCO approved; do not assume the 13.02 dollar figure the company originally cited is what actually landed on bills.
