Alliant Energy asked the Public Service Commission to approve an individual electric service contract with Meta affiliate Degas LLC covering 220 megawatts of power for the Beaver Dam data center over a 10 year term. Regulators approved it on May 7, 2026 but criticized the secrecy around the filing, including nondisclosure agreements, heavily redacted documents and a corporate pseudonym, and said they want less of a black box approach and longer contract terms in future cases.
