The Minnesota PUC approved the private-equity acquisition of ALLETE, Minnesota Power's parent company, on October 3, 2025, with conditions the commission said deliver more than 200 million dollars in quantifiable customer savings and protections. As part of the deal, Minnesota Power agreed not to file another base rate increase request until at least November 1, 2026, meaning no new base rate case was pending for Minnesota Power as of mid-2026.
