FirstEnergy's three Ohio utilities asked PUCO for about 190.3 million dollars in additional annual electric distribution revenue, filed July 31, 2024. For Ohio Edison (Akron area), that would have raised a typical 1,000 kWh residential bill from about 170.23 to 173.22 dollars a month, an increase of 2.99 dollars, if approved as requested. PUCO's November 19, 2025 order granted only about 34 million dollars combined across all three utilities, roughly 18 percent of the request, so the actual approved bill impact for Ohio Edison customers is well below the 2.99 dollar figure the company originally cited. New rates took effect March 1, 2026.
