Louisville Gas and Electric asked the Kentucky Public Service Commission for an 8.3 percent electric rate increase. The commission approved a settlement with modifications on February 16, 2026, cutting the electric increase to 4.73 percent, about 5.14 dollars a month for an average residential customer using 866 kWh, raising a typical bill from 108.76 to 113.90 dollars. The settlement also included the utility's agreement not to file another rate case until 2028.
