Kentucky Utilities asked the Kentucky Public Service Commission for an 11.5 percent residential rate increase, its first rate case since 2020. The commission approved a settlement with modifications on February 16, 2026, cutting the increase to 6.54 percent, about 8.73 dollars a month for an average residential customer using 1,085 kWh, raising a typical bill from 133.57 to 142.30 dollars. The commission also denied a proposed profit sharing mechanism the settling parties had wanted for 2027 and 2028.
What it means for your bill: Your Kentucky Utilities electric bill rose about 8.73 dollars a month under a February 2026 order, roughly half of what the company originally asked for.
