2026 joint rebasing proposal for 2027 to 2028 rates

Hawaiian Electric and Ulupono Initiative jointly asked the PUC to approve about 170 million dollars a year in added revenue, seeking a two year rate increase of 5 percent on Oahu, 5.8 percent on Hawaii Island and 6.4 percent on Maui and Molokai. By 2028 that would add roughly 11 dollars a month to a typical Oahu bill, about 15 dollars on the Big Island, and about 14 dollars on Maui, driven by inflation, post wildfire insurance costs and accelerated retirement of fossil generation. The three member PUC can approve, reduce or reject the request after a public process.
