FPL 2026-2029 rate settlement

Florida Power & Light and consumer groups reached a four year rate settlement covering 2026 through 2029, approved by the Florida Public Service Commission on November 20, 2025. New base rates took effect January 1, 2026, and FPL says the roughly 4.245 billion dollar, four year agreement is meant to keep bills for a typical 1,000 kWh residential customer well below the national average. A 1,000 kWh residential bill rose to about 136.64 dollars a month under the new rates, a roughly 2 percent increase from 2025.
What it means for your bill: Your FPL base rate is now set under a settlement running through 2029, though fuel and storm charges can still move separately.
