AES Indiana originally sought a 192.9 million dollar rate increase. After a settlement with industrial customers, Walmart and the City of Indianapolis, the IURC voted 3 to 1 on June 17, 2026 to approve a smaller 71 million dollar increase, an overall bill impact of about 3.7 percent phased in over two steps in July 2026 and January 2027. For a typical residential customer using 1000 kWh a month, each phase adds less than 5 dollars. The state consumer counselor and a citizens group asked the IURC to reconsider the decision in July 2026.
